It would be cool if you started out from phpbb and build up proclanmanager from that point ... With integrated user tables & rankings ...

Something to think about :)

Hey EssEt,

I Haven't talked to you in ages, what you been up to?

Pro Clan Manager is suppose to be a website specifically for clans not a PHPBB mod. See the first page on the site.

The aim of Pro Clan Manager is to create an international content management system dedicated to helping Clans or Guilds work together and have a good looking website that is W3C valid.

Later on i might do a mod that intergrates the login of phpbb with pro clan manager (you login at the site you are logged in the forum too) but that is as far as i would go with phpbb stuff.

I have been busy on my university course. I have exams this week so it has been pretty stressful. Thankfully after these exams that is it until next year.

ya know, you would THINK that I'd have checked here before I posted on the other PCM forums... but .... not so much.

anyways, having one login work for both sites would make life a lot easier. as-is the main site for my clan is pretty well ignored ... except in so far as to provide a link to the forums.

Here i grabbed your post from the other forum for you.

r4507 wrote:Well I've had another idea that if you can implement it will make life a LOT easier for guilds.

One of the more popular boards in use at present is phpBB2, and an idea that I had but haven't had much time to test out, had been the idea of incorporating the login to the site with the login to the forums.

While permissions would still be dealt with via the individual databses, if a relation was set such that when a user for the site logged into the main site that they would be auto-logged into the members portion of the site (and vice versa)

This would go a long ways towards making it truely easier for clans/guilds to communicate since with forums as a direct part of the site (not just a link on the sidebar they need to click to get to the forums) the site becomes a place to get involved, not merely a place to discuss meeting places/times and for the 12 yr old fanboi clans to scream out they "4r3 t3h 1337!!!11!!!1!1 LOLo10Lz" (yea... they irritate me as well.)

The idea behind a guild site is to allow for organization, and provide an outlet for guild members to express their oppinions/concerns, for intrested applicants to meet their new potential guildmates and for leaders to ... well... lead. Having a place that just posts up some fairly static info (even downloads and polls are still somewhat static and at a minimum it is one way communication) will lead to a site no one visits unless they have to. People should WANT to visit the guild site... not go there because "its required".

This idea's been on the list of stuff to do for some time but i think i forgot to add it to the feature list so thanks from reminding me.

I'll release it after the next version is finished in the form of a mod you can upload and click install.

I've just finished my exams so i've been working alot on the project. I should have something finished soon.

It's not been done. If you would like to contribute then you're welcome to do so however I won't be spending any more time on this project unless we get more contributions.

Perhaps you could define "contribution". I presume you mean financial but there are other mediums. And in any event how large?

However that is beside the main point of this topic. While I agree integration between one's clan site and one's clan forum would be an excellent idea I don't particularly care for phpbb myself, it's rather limited from an administrative perspective. I much prefer invisionfree or simple machines forum.
